Narsil - Lord of the Rings
By United Cutlery
I love swords. I have always loves swords. Some guys love guns. Not me. For the most part, I think guns are boring. But a good sword, sleek and elegant, can tell a story all on its own, serve as a silent character, and look like a piece of art.
Narsil is my favorite movie sword of all time (tied with the reforged version, Andúril). As soon as I saw it on screen, I fell in love with it. Something about the extended pommel and complimentary cross guard with the ridged, leather-clad grip in-between sang to me.
As such, this was one of my earliest props, before I was a serious collector. I stopped into a nerdy novelty store and saw the sword I loved so much there on display. I hadn't even known anyone had made it (I did say I wasn't really into the scene then). Official and made pretty well. I'd seen some cheap, crap swords in my time, and this was not those. I had to have it. I bought it on the spot.
My wife hates swords. Don't know why. Maybe they're just a tad too nerdy for her. So they tend to be displayed somewhere only I go, like my office or my workshop (or my closet). But Narsil gets a special dispensation and is always displayed prominently and publicly, everywhere we have lived.
Narsil no longer seems to be available, but UC still sells Andúril, which can be found on their site.
